Cell (previously
Daniel) was an exiled, Section 31 covered-up Changeling and strict Captain of the
U.S.S. Phoenix-X in the late 24th century, where he fought Borg, obsessive Cardassians and was given Omni powers by ex-Q's.
He changed his name in 2379 after a decades-long time-loop and eventually escaped Starfleet with the Traveling Link after the secret of his cover-up went public.
